Wildlife-viewing promotion

We are especially interested in bringing people and wildlife closer; for the benefit of both. One way to do this without necessarily keeping animals in captivity is providing networks of sites and facilities that allow people to view wildlife in nature. Organizing this requires deep natural history knowledge, ecotourism planning and strategic interpretation designs. Members of our group have participated in designing and developing many such facilities.

Museums/Exhibits/Nature interpretation

In order to do this effectively one must have a deep knowledge of the both the subject and the ways to reach the audience. There are many ways to do this in a cost-effective manner; above all, any exhibit, museum or nature interpretation facility must be widely used and must be care-fully planned in order to sustain its continued use.

Websites / Multimedia

Publishing and dissemination of knowledge on the World Wide Web is a very big issue. We strive to help produce products that enrich and expand local knowledge through this medium. Since our members have a huge archive of images and nature interpretation applications many of these can be effective in nature-oriented web-sites and CD audiovisual packages.

Photography

Digital photography has revolutionized capturing and collecting images of nature. Taking and displaying pictures and using them for promotion and interpretation of nature conservation is one way to help spread this “revolution”. We are especially interested in specialist biodiversity photography, including close-up nature, underwater, and with a special focus on poorly-studied flora and fauna.

Arts and crafts

Drawing in nature Become inspired by nature! Drawing nature, learning to participate through art or using images to promote nature conservation, public sensitization and awareness is an important part of our interests.

Documentary and promotional films

Films for nature, e-documentaries and larger documentary projects can be important for affecting culture with respect for nature. We can help organize and assist in all aspects of audiovisual production (screenplay, logistics, interpretation, guiding, editing).

Teaching and training Courses

Field class at Schinias National Park (photo Kostas Papakonstantinou)Biodiversity East would like to cooperate with other organizations to help develop  a series of courses teaching techniques and natural history study skills to students and professionals. We would like to offer short introduction courses at meetings and conferences as well as week long detailed training in theory, survey techniques, data management, and organization. We also promote curricula for natural history study and eco-guiding and offer guest lectures on conservation-relevant topics.
